Google Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL presented now officially

On the first day of Google I/O conference 2019, the giant from Mountain View officially presented new smartphones Pixel 3a and Pixel 3a XL. Although they are sometimes referred to as "budget" Pixels, they are rather mid-range devices.

As with previous Pixels, the 3a Series models have a lot in common. Both models use Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 processors, supported by Adreno 616 graphics chips and 4 GB of LPDDR4x RAM. In both, we also find 64 GB of internal memory, which is a bit worrying, considering that it can’t be extended with a microSD card. For consolation, both models include NFC and minijack connectors. In the range of communication interfaces we have LTE, Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC, as well as dual band Wi-Fi and GPS navigation, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo and QZSS.

Both new models have the same - in addition fairly decent - cameras. On the back there are 12.2-megapixel matrices with 1.4 micrometer pixels and optically stabilized lenses with f/1.8 aperture. Cameras were enriched with Night Sight night mode and video recording in 4K. In the front, in a classic, straight frame above the screen there were mounted 8 megapixel cameras with f/2.0 aperture, which - just like the back ones - have the ability to digitally blur the background. The new Pixel equipment is complemented by classic fingerprint readers, a gyroscope and an Active Edge interface that allows some of the phone's functions to be operated by squeezing the casing. Both smartphones support fast charging of 18 W.

What is the difference between these models? Google Pixel 3a has a 5.6-inch OLED screen and a battery with a capacity of 3000 mAh, while in Pixel 3a XL we find a 6-inch screen (of course OLED one) and a 3700 mAh battery. None of the new Pixels has a notch or a hole in the screen, but the phones differ slightly in the proportions of the screens. The smaller one has a side ratio of 18.5: 9, and a larger one - 18: 9. Both displays have Full HD+ resolution.

Google Pixel 3a costs $ 399, while Pixel 3a XL costs $ 479. There are three housing colours to choose from, including purple and pink.
