Samsung finally showed its flexible smartphone

At the Samsung Developer Conference 2018, the Korean company finally showed its flexible phone. The device, which will probably get the name Galaxy V, is impressive, although it still looks like a prototype.

It is possible that the "chunky" appearance of the casing is due to the masking cover, and the exact appearance of the device will be known during its "proper" plaunch - because today it seemed more like an announcement than a full presentation of the device.

Interestingly, Galaxy V has two screens. The first, smaller one, is on the outside. After unfolding the casing like a book, we will see the second, much bigger screen. Indeed - it is flexible. The leader folded it a couple of times and there was no visible line along which the screen was bent. Unfortunately, the phone looks quite thick, and the external screen seems quite small, relative to the rest of the housing. But maybe because of masking ...?

As expected, no further technical details about the phone were presented, the focus was on the screen itself, called Infinity Flex. The general concept of its construction is briefly presented, and the vision of the future is presented - rolled-up and even expandable displays. Several parts of the interface are shown, but that's basically everything.

It can be seen that Samsung wants to launch a refined and complete product on the market - and certainly does not want to risk any "bloop". Perhaps that is why we have waited so long for a flexible phone - and we will wait. And for now, the Korean giant encourages developers to create applications that use the full potential of folding screens. The company can count on Google's support, but it will also help developers by publishing the API, as well as a special screen display emulator and instruction set.
